At the first Paris Motor Show 2018, the official debut includes a new 2019 Audi SQ2. Although it is too early to talk about it, we expect a much more powerful version of the Audi RS Q2. For the moment, it is only intended for the European market. In any case, this model represents an excellent competitor for the sports variants of the BMW X2. Of course, the new Mercedes Benz AMG GLA 45 is also important.
Equipped with 18 or 19 inch wheels, the new 2019 Audi SQ2 rises less than 20 millimeters (0.8 inches) compared to smaller models thanks to a stiffer sport suspension, which makes the small crossover more agile in turns . As a high end model, it is only logical that the vehicle has been equipped with a wider range of standard equipment, including LED headlights and tail lights. A big responsibility rests with Audi, which decided to install the 2019 Audi SQ2 with 340 mm front brakes and bigger 310 mm brakes, with S labeled brake calipers available in red instead of standard black finish . You also get the sleek set of digital instruments with a specific start screen for S that reminds you that every time you turn on the engine, it’s more than a classic Q2.
As expected, the 2019 Audi SQ2 mechanical package is similar to what we found in the latest S3. A 2.0 liter turbocharged in line transmission is mounted at the front and propels all four wheels through a seven speed dual clutch transmission. The maximum power is 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which will take the 2019 Audi SQ2 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. This is much better than the next most powerful variant of Q2, which runs only 187 hp. The vehicle also benefits from stronger brakes (13.4 inches at the front and 12.2 inches at the rear) and a lowered suspension (20 millimeters down). The AWD system can also send 100% of the unit’s torque to the rear wheels when necessary, for example when there is a loss of traction in the front.
There is no official information about 2019 Audi SQ2. Based on current information, we anticipate a base price of approximately £ 35,000 (approximately € 40,000 or $ 46,000). The first models will appear on the UK market in the first quarter of next year and in the global market throughout 2019. Unfortunately, it is not known when it will appear in North America. In addition, buyers in the United States may not be able to buy it (at least for the moment).
